James Ferguson, MD
Family Medicine
“One person can make a difference, and everyone should try.” - President John F Kennedy
Raised on Long Island, Dr Ferguson has been advocating for patients in his own private practice and abroad for over 40 years. He chose family medicine for its clinical breadth and the ability to treat any ailment. When asked what he likes most about being a physician Dr Ferguson states it’s the personal stories his patients share about themselves, their trials and tribulations and the unique ways they overcome various challenges, all making him not only a better doctor but a better human being.
Over the years, Dr Ferguson has shared his medical gifts across the world, traveling to over 30 different countries to provide medical services to those in need. These trips often become family expeditions where his wife, a nurse practitioner, and children participate. Dr Ferguson is dedicated and fearless in his desire to serve, traveling to remote and often inhospitable parts of the world and enduring austere and harsh conditions. In addition to his medical travels abroad, Dr Ferguson has donated his services to medical clinics in Bedford Stuyvesant, and currently runs a free medical clinic for migrant farm workers in Eastern Long Island.
